Fun in Houston

Well November has been a really busy month and really fun too. The weekend of the 8th Sonia and I got to fly out to Houston to see family, attend a wedding, and be there for Michael's Baptism. The flight to Houston was great we got to sit by each other on the plane and actually had all three seats to ourselves, which is great for napping and just relaxing. The flight went well and we arrived in Houston two hours before the wedding. But needless to say it takes forever to get anywhere in Houston so we actually ended up an hour late for the wedding. It turned out ok because the wedding was still going and we arrived just in time for the end and pictures. So as far as anyone is concerned we were there :) Really, what I experienced of the wedding was great, it was a beautiful chapel and I'm sure the bride and groom were very happy. Then it was back on the road and more driving, everything is soooooo far apart in Houston I don't think we made it very many places without at least 45min of driving. The reception was fun, great food, good family, and dancing of course. It was so good to see all my nieces and nephews, they're all wonderful and fun. Overall a busy day but a good one.

Sunday, it was nice to attend church and be in elders quorum with Sergio and Peter. Peter had some great insights that he shared with the quorum, in fact I would say the three of us talked and shared more than all the other elders in the quorum, not sure what they do when we aren't there ;) Michael's Baptism was after church and he had a great turn out. He and I had fun picking out our whites for the baptism and I got to spend some great time talking with Michael about the baptism and what would happen. He's such a great kid, very calm and mature when he wants to be. I was very blessed that Melissa asked me to be the one to Baptize Michael. The last baptism I performed was over 10 years ago so I was a little nervous, but so proud and happy to be performing it for my nephew. We had rehearsed a little before and he did so great. I know he felt the cleansing power of his baptism and I'm excited that I got to be apart of that. I also got to confer the holy ghost on Michael and give him a blessing. Although I don't remember what was said in the blessing, I remember the love that was felt through me and all the priesthood there in that circle. I know that Michael will be a strong spirit in the gospel as he remembers to keep heavenly fathers commandments. Love you Michael!

After the baptism we had some good food and went home to relax and enjoy the rest of the day. I was sad to see Michelle and Sergio leave with their little family, its always really good to see them and I'm always impressed with how well they handle their children. It's wonderful to have really cool sisters and brothers in-law. The flight home on Monday was good although Sonia and I had to sit at different ends of the plane and I just wanted to sleep but I was sitting in between a really chatty lady on my right and a nice chatty old lady on my left. So a lot of chatty later and not much sleep we arrived in Phoenix, I was so glad to be home.

I'm really looking forward to January, I know your thinking why January what about Thanksgiving and Christmas? Well those are nice holidays but not as exciting have Michelle, Melissa and the kids come and visit us in January. It's gonna be awesome to have our first AZ visitors and to show off our new house a little. Well I think I've gone on long enough, keeping busy and trying to finish up the semester with all my brain cells still entact. Hope your all well, we love you!

Thanks for the update! What a special experience you had with your nephew! Very neat! Are Christmas plans solidified? We're wondering if we get to see you or not. :-)

Tim:

I am very thankful to have you for a brother in law and for your willingness to step in and be the one to do this for Michael.

We loved having you (and Sonia =-})and only wish it could have been for a bit longer. I can't wait to visit you and Sonia in January. I wish my kids could come with me but I have to share them with their dad that weekend.
